Stittsville Community Bible Church's (SCBC) primary activities in Seje include:
-
Launched a school that educates and feeds the most underprivileged children, many of them orphans, within Seje.
-
Completed the construction of a school building that is holding four classes.
-
Started construction of an additional school building that will hold the 5th class.
-
Purchased 2 acres for the school and have completed construction of a multi-purpose building that currently houses all four grades. Eventually this building will serve as a community centre to be used by the school, local churches, and to hold local events.
-
Developed a water system that provides clean water to the community. Wells are not a viable approach in this region so we built a solar powered system that draws water from a nearby river, filters and chlorinates it, then pumps it nearly a km to a large storage container atop a hill that has distribution lines to several locations, including the school.
-
Improved housing for widows and the elderly by rebuilding their dilapidated huts, replacing their thatch roofs with tin roofs.
-
Purchased 3 acres of land that is owned and operated by the community for the purposes of supporting the school. Farming and management of the land is supported by local volunteers.
-
Sent missions team to Seje to establish relationships with the community members; spend time with the school children; and deliver God’s message of love and hope through both music and teaching.
